The Big Mouth

Dinner is always exciting, and this night was no different. Pene's new trick is the 'Big Mouth' look. The video explains it all.

9 month check up

Our little bean has had a full recovery! We're so thankful and relieved. We were not looking forward to going to an ENT.

Here are her latest stats at her checkup on Friday:
• 18.9 lbs putting her in the 50 percentile
• 23.5 inches tall, putting her in the 75th percentile (go Bean!)
• Can't remember her head circumfrance but she's in the 90th percentile for that - lots of brains!

She is not crawling yet. The doctor did a strength test and found that she is very strong! Her doc seems to think that she just might skip crawling altogether - which is what Brian has been saying all along!

The Cough that won't go away

Welp....
After a Monday visit BACK to the doc's, Penelope was diagnosed with 2 ear infections. We took her in because of a fever Sunday night. We got a new antibiotic.
By Thursday her cough was not letting up and she was in full body rash because of the drugs.
So back we went today.
Turns out she has a viral version of Bronchitis. We now have another new antibiotic and we're the proud new owners of a pink and purple dinosaur nebulizer that she has to have 4 times a day.
Needless to say... I'm starting to worry.

Thanks for your prayers.

Busy Spring!

The weather has finally warmed up and we've been running non-stop!

Penelope's 1st Easter - we invited both of our families over for an Easter Cook-Out. Everyone had a great time, except for Penelope who got a fever. The next day we took her to see Doc Allen.
Prognosis? Bronchitis.... and maybe a tooth.

Thursday, at work, I put together a Volunteer Production Team Chili Cook-off and we had a blast! But it made for a very long day.

Friday, Brian and I started our garden (I missed having one so much last year!) We planted some new things like: Onions and Sweet Potatoes and some old stand-bys like tomatoes, okra, cumcumber, mint and an accidental squash that somehow made it on our buggy. A stowaway!

Today, Brian and Dad worked some on our kitchen and the renovation starting there... but also appeased my need for closure and worked very hard on getting our master bath finished.

Then, we packed up our little bean and headed to Suwanee for the 106.7 Birthday Bash with Randy and Spiff and our favorite band - the Return! It was such a nice day in the park and we loved getting to see people we rarely get to see anymore! We saw Spiff and his family, our friends the Crunkeltons, Jen and the Carrettos from small group. I was so busy socializing - I forgot to get some yummy BBQ!

Long time no see

Well... it's been a really long time since I blogged ... or Brian blogged. I blame both of us.
Basically being a parent is harder than we thought. Much harder than you see on TV (ha). I keep waiting for the lesson music to come in at the end of the day like on "Full House", but alas, the day usually ends with me sprawled out on the couch watching "Phineas and Ferb" trying to stay up past 8 so that I can see Brian and tell him he's on his own for dinner.

Here's what's been going on:

•Our little bean is now 7 months old, has 2 bottom teeth and cracks us up. She's hilarious. She has brought so much joy into our lives. She "talks" a ton, sits up and loves baby food - especially pears and oatmeal. She sleeps about 12 hours - which is awesome, except that the 12 hours begins at 5:30pm.

•We got REAL snow in Atlanta, which is very exciting to us, but didn't really impress Miss P too much.

• Savannah and Ruby love Penelope. They often do a run-by licking. Savannah has even been known to sit by Bean and let her pet her and pull her doggy fur.

• Birthday fail: Brian and I decided to celebrate our birthdays together during a lunch with our families at a restaurant very close to us. We thought that would be easiest with an infant. Unfortunately, both families came down with the same nasty stomach flu that's been going around.

• Family Photo Shoot - we were recommended a photographer and had a great photo shoot. Visit www.studiohollyb.com. Penelope wasn't too happy about it until Mommy started singing and dancing on the streets of downtown Buford the theme songs to "Wonder Pets", her fave show. I have been stripped of all dignity.

• Brian's sister is engaged and the whole family is in the wedding. We're so excited for Amy and Andrew and their wedding in August!

• 2010 has cost a lot of money. It all began Christmas Eve when the heat stopped working, followed by the hot water heater exploding Christmas Day. We followed that up in January with a hole in our pool liner (Brian hired an ex-wrestler to replace it), our new tile in our new master bath started popping up, both of our windshields got cracks in them and... well, I won't bore you with the rest. You get the idea.

Things have been stressful and we grab sleep where we can, but we're learning so much and growing at such an alarming rate. We're thankful to be surrounded by great friends and family.
